ACADEMIC ENGLISH
Academic English at London School of Languages
If you need a specific IELTS, Cambridge, TOEFL or other internationally recognised English score — for a UK university, a postgraduate programme abroad, a professional registration, or a visa — general English classes won't get you there fast enough. Exam English is a different skill, and the Academic English course at London School of Languages is built specifically to push you to the score you need.
Our Academic English students typically arrive with a target. Often it's IELTS 6.5 or 7.0 for postgraduate university admission. Sometimes it's Cambridge C1 Advanced for visa or registration purposes. Some students need a TOEFL score for North American universities. Whatever the target, we work backwards from it: we know what the exam tests, where students typically lose marks, and how to close those gaps in the weeks you have.
What Academic English Actually Trains
Beyond raw language, exam English is about strategy. IELTS Writing Task 1 rewards specific phrasing. IELTS Speaking rewards extended turns with developed ideas, not short answers. Cambridge Listening rewards careful reading of the question stem before the audio plays. We teach the tactics alongside the language. Most students see their practice-test scores rise 0.5–1.0 IELTS bands within a month of focused work.
